Piriformis Syndrome
Piriformis syndrome is the compression of the sciatic nerve by the piriformis muscle. Symptoms include but are not limited to:
- Typically on one side of the body
- Pain in the posterior thigh, projecting to the calf and the sole of the foot.
- Numbness in the foot
- Inner thigh pain
- Buttock pain with possible gluteal atrophy
- Pain often decreases with external rotation of the hip
